There is now a new industry leading FOD sweeping system to keep FOD under control throughout Airfields and Aprons. The Seeker FOD Management System has twice the sweeping power of industry competitors. Linking the Seeker Airmag Magnetic Sweeper to the Seeker Airdrag Friction FOD Sweeper allows for complete FOD sweeping, the Airmag magnet retrieves any metallic FOD while the Airdrag collects any other FOD that may be on the airfield. Using the Seeker Airmag with the Airdrag to complete the Seeker FOD management system allows operators to work twice as fast by performing two sweeping methods at once. A wide 15” foot sweeping width and effective top speed of 25 mph makes quick work of cleaning large areas. Combining a magnetic sweeper with a friction sweeper enhances the performance of the friction sweeper by collecting all ferrous debris before it has the chance to get to the FOD collection pods on the Seeker Airdrag. This increase in efficiency lets the Seeker Complete FOD Cleaning System maintain perfectly clean airfields.

The Seeker Airmag FOD Control Magnetic Sweeper was designed in association with some of the biggest international airports in Ontario. The London International and Toronto Pearson International Airport gave input on features they needed for effective FOD control at their facilities. With these inputs in mind, Bluestreak Equipment built the new industry leader in metal FOD control.
A massive 12” x 3” x 60” inch alternating pole C8 ceramic magnet has twice the magnetic power of the Piranha magnet assembly and more surface area to hold onto collected debris so clean-off doesn’t have to happen as often. Clean off is accomplished by a counterweighted lever that needs to be manually pushed down to swing the magnet housing up and away from the stainless-steel debris pan to release the collected debris. From there debris can be collected using included Powerstik Pro Elite magnets and dropped into onboard FOD containment buckets.
The Seeker Airmag is built to pick up metal debris from runways at speeds up to 25km/h or 15mph but is stable at higher speeds so the magnet can get off the runway quickly if needed, and can cover ground around maintenance areas and the apron faster.

The Piranha magnetic sweeper is designed to hit the road! It's the tow behind magnet to choose when you need to pickup metal from large areas like airport runways, roads or other flat surface applications.
It has lots of power, to allow greater speed while still picking up debris.
The Piranha has on board debris bins since when cleaning large areas, you could be a long way from home when you need to clean off the magnet. You can store the debris in the debris bins until you reach a dumping site. It also features larger highway rated tires to allow you to pull the unit down the road from location to location. Since the Piranha was designed for flat surfaces, the sweeping height is adjustable from 2" to 3" inches.

Maximize Safety and Speed with the new industry standard for heavy truck magnetic sweeping
The Baffin magnetic sweeper is designed to be the premier front mounted heavy commercial truck magnet on the market. It’s suspension system keeps the magnet planted at the right height through hard turns and over bumps to eliminate the need for constant height adjustment. The Baffin also has a clean-off system that allows drivers to empty the magnet quickly and safely from the truck cab without ever having to get out of the truck or handle debris.
With a maximum pickup height of 10.75”, the Baffin is well suited to collect any metal debris up to 25 km/h (~15 mph) at the recommended sweeping height of 2” inches.
And the two on-board removable 1.65 cubic foot debris bins allow for the 95” inch wide magnet to be cleaned off multiple times before the bins need to be emptied. This increases efficiency by letting the magnet spend more time sweeping. And by easily keeping the magnet clear of debris there is more power available to collect debris which further increases efficiency.
Sweeping height adjustment (recommended 2”-5” inches) is done using stroke control blocks on the hydraulic cylinders. Moving from sweeping height to the travelling height of 10.5” inches just requires a cycle of the hydraulics (this position can be maintained by inserting all the supplied stroke control blocks or you may rely on the hydraulic system to keep the magnet suspended).

The AETHER hanging magnet was designed for those off road dirt and gravel situations where more ground strike prevention is needed than the EIGER provides, but less ground strike prevention than the REMORAS provides.
The 10” x 3” flat proof bump wheels on the ends prevent the magnet from hitting the ground and from sinking into loose surfaces, and the wheeled outriggers provide additional ground strike prevention in the middle of the magnet’s overall length.

Foreign object debris (FOD) is a substance, debris or article alien to a vehicle or system which would potentially cause damage. It can include many forms from ferrous nuts and bolts to nonferrous stones. Airfield FOD (Foreign Object Debris) damage can result in millions of dollars worth of damage to aircraft engines.
Internationally, airport FOD costs the aviation industry $13 billion dollars per year in direct plus indirect costs.
The indirect costs are as much as ten times the direct cost value, representing delays, aircraft changes, incurred fuel costs, unscheduled maintenance, and the like and causes expensive, significant damage to aircraft and parts and death and injury to workers, pilots and passengers.
FOD control is normally attempted by sweeping with broom type brushes, magnetic sweepers, vacuum trucks, visual inspection as well as other methods. Some debris such as broken off wire bristles from sweeper trucks cannot be picked up easily by anything other than a magnetic sweeper.
Examples of airfield FOD include a wide range of items including aircraft parts, rocks, broken pavement, ramp equipment, parts from ground vehicles, garbage, maintenance tools, etc. mistakenly or purposely deposited on tarmac and/or runway surfaces, tools, bolts, metal shavings, lock wire, etc. mistakenly left behind inside aircraft during the manufacturing process or maintenance. FOD can include hail that can break windshields and damage or stop engines. Ice on the wings, propellers, or engine intakes is considered FOD. FOD can even be dust or ash clogging the air intakes (as in sandstorms in desert operating conditions or ash clouds in volcanic eruptions). For helicopters, this is also a major problem during a brownout.
Magnetic sweepers are just one tool used in the fight against airfield FOD, but an important one and one that can be easily deployed along with your other FOD strategies. Magnetic sweepers can work silently while operations continue.
