Types of Forklift Magnetic Sweepers
There are three types of Forklift Mangets available, differentiated by their mounting location.

Rear-Mounted
Rear mounted to the back of the forklift using the rear forklift Pin as the mount location. This type of forklift magnet is meant to be permanently mounted allowing use while the forklift is performing normal duties.

Fork-Mounted
Fork Mount magnets slide on and off the forks of the forklift. This type of forklift magnet is only mounted temporarily on the forks when the need arises and you can’t use the forklift for anything else when using it as a magnetic sweeper.

Hanging
Hanging (Mid Mount) Forklift magnets are hung underneath the forklift between the front and rear wheels. This type of forklift magnet is also meant to be permanently mounted.
A Rear Pin Mount Magnet Designed for Maximum Flexibility
The Forager Magnetic Sweeper is designed to fit almost every brand and size of forklift on the market right out of the box.
The Forager utilizes the rear pin on your forklift as the mounting point and the Forager mounting bracket is vented to ensure the pin mount can be used even if the exhaust on your forklift is vented through the pin slot.
No modifications to your forklift are necessary to mount the Forager. The mounting bracket uses the existing pin on your forklift ONLY. There is no need to modify, weld on or drill into your forklift in order to mount the Forager.
The Forager can be mounted to forklifts of varying sizes. The multiple installation bracket positions combined with the adjustable sweeping height ensures different height forklifts of every kind are accommodated.
The Forager was designed specifically to pickup and remove debris such as nails, screws, wire, discarded pieces from fabrication activities, bolts, nuts, pins, screw drivers, wrenches, etc. while operating the forklift.

Economical rear pin mount Forklift magnet. Simple design in one size.
The KURSK forklift magnet is a rear pin mount design whose frame only adds 2.25” inches to the back profile of the forklift. The magnet bar itself is not positioned under the forklift counterweight like the NAOS, but rather hangs straight down from the KURSK frame and therefore will also stick out from the back of the forklift, but the single 20” inch magnet bar width keeps this to a minimum.
Ground strike protection is provided by chains that allow upwards and forward/backward movement which allows the magnet to swing up and out of the way if the magnet strikes the ground or an object.
Adjustable clamping system provides continuous adjustable sweeping height, with no fixed positions, allowing precise sweeping height adjustment to suit your job site and forklift.
Leading edge guard on magnet prevents magnet bar from sticking to your forklift.
Comes in one 20” inch sweeping width, design ensures different height and sized forklifts of every kind are accommodated. See FIT guidelines for details.

Heavy Duty Fork Mounted Magnet! With pivoting debris tray for easy debris removal.
The OBLAST forklift magnet is a fork mount design that allows you to use your forklift to pick up ferrous metal debris and then lift the OBLAST over a disposal / scrap bin for easy removal by using the easy flip down pivoting stainless steel debris tray.
Heavy duty construction of steel and stainless, with UHMW bushings on the rotating stainless steel debris tray for long life and a solid feel.
Ground strike protection is provided by the angled front and rear of the stainless steel debris tray which reduces the width of the bottom flat section and therefore limits magnet contact with the ground, and prevents damage if the magnet does contact the ground because there is no hard edge to “catch” on the ground.
Upward clamping fork pockets provides greater contact of the fork pockets with the forklift forks and therefore provides greater stability to reduce magnet “slippage” on the forks.
Comes in one 52” inch magnet sweeping width, and easily mounts to forklift forks up to and including 6” inch wide forks on 24” inch fork centers. See CAD drawings for further details.

Mounts to Any Forklift In Minutes Using Rare Earth Magnets!
The Vigilant Forklift Magnetic Sweeper mounts to the bottom of any forklift in minutes and is an easy way to continuously clean metal debris up while the forklift performs its daily tasks. The Vigilant mounts to any flat steel surface using four quad rare earth magnet pods that each have 52lbs of holding force. It comes with a quick clean off sleeve that allows for the collected debris to be removed easily from the magnet without having to bend over or scrape anything from the magnet. The Vigilant comes in either a 36” or 42” sweeping width which is suitable for most indoor / outdoor forklifts, mounting the magnet in the middle of the forklift also prevents damage since it is tucked away under the forklift and doesn’t extend outside of the wheel width. The Vigilant magnet housing is built out of anodized aluminum and comes with a PVC clean off sleeve that has wrap around function to hang onto metal debris even if the magnet strikes the ground. The Vigilant magnetic sweeper can pick up a 2.5” nail from a height of 3.25” inches, meaning when it is hung at the recommended 1-2” sweeping height there is plenty of magnetic pickup power.

Quick Tips
What do staff of Bluestreak have to say about Rear Mount Magnets?
Take a real close look at the FIT guidelines of rear mount magnets. We try and make them fit a wide array of forklifts, but they may not fit every single one. Look at our FIT guidelines for the specific product you’re interested in and check your forklift against those FIT criteria.

What do staff of Bluestreak have to say about Rear Mount Magnets?
If you're looking at the hanging magnet options, remember the Remoras and the strongest Wrasse (4.5" x 4.5" series) have the same magnet. The only reason for selecting the Remoras over the Wrasse is if you have rough terrain and you expect the magnet to hit the ground frequently. In this case you'll need the Remoras.
Mike - Bluestreak Equipment

What do the staff of Bluestreak have to say on the subject of Forklift magnets?
My recommendation is to select a magnetic sweeper that you can leave mounted all the time if at all possible so that it works for you all the time.

7 Questions to Ask Before Buying a Forklift Magnetic Sweeper
- Question 1
- Question 2
- Question 3
- Question 4
- Question 5
- Question 6
- Question 7
Will the magnetic sweeper be mounted to the forklift permanently or will it be temporary?
If you can mount a magnet permanently on your forklift it’s going to working for you all the time at no extra labor cost, and it will also save you the time of temporary mounting and de-mounting. Fork mounted sweepers have the drawback that they don’t allow you to keep the magnet permanently mounted because you need to use the forklift. Therefore if you can make it work, a rear or mid mount forklift magnet is always better.
Will the maneuverability of our forklift be affected by the magnetic sweeper?
You need to consider the effect of any permanently mounted forklift magnet on overall forklift maneuverability at your location. Rear mount forklift magnets extend the overall length of the forklift to some degree, some are straight, some wrap around the back of the forklift better, but each can affect at least to some degree your forklift maneuverability. If you don’t have a lot of space to move your forklift around, then a mid mount forklift magnet is going to rank higher for you. If you’ve all kinds of space, maneuverability isn’t a concern.
How well does the magnetic sweeper fit your particular forklift?
You need to consider what magnets will fit your forklift. Not every magnet fits every forklift. Some forklifts are low and can only accept some mid mount magnets. Rear mount magnets have specific fit guidelines that need to be checked to ensure they will fit your specific forklift.
How far off the ground will the forklift magnetic sweeper be positioned?
We want to make sure our products meet your expectations. Therefore make sure you take a look at our “maximum lifting height” specification. We bench test every one of our magnetic sweeper models to determine their maximum lifting height of a two and a half inch standard nail. Everyone knows what a two and a half inch nail looks like which is why we use this standard measure of magnet strength and it will give you a very good idea of magnet performance. Many times we have videos of our products picking up various other materials so take a look at the videos in the video galleries. They give you a chance to “kick the tires” and see how the products perform. Many of these videos have been submitted by previous customers. Make sure the magnet strength matches the type of debris you expect to be picking up.
What terrain and in what conditions will you be working in?
The rougher, dirtier terrain your forklift operates in the stronger the magnet your likely going to want, because the magnet will have to be set higher to avoid constantly hitting the ground. The magnet will also need to pick up debris through some dirt therefore you need a stronger magnet. The rougher the terrain that exists because of things like bumps and pot holes, more you will want or favor a magnet that has some protection built in to the design to either deal with the abuse of hitting the ground or being able to move out of the way when it does hit the ground in order to prevent damage.
How easy is the forklift magnetic sweeper to clean off?
A magnetic sweeper may work really well at picking up debris, but how easy is it to clean off? Think through how you would clean the magnet off step by step. Make sure it makes sense to you and your situation. We try and do this for you so that clean off isn’t ridiculous, but some manufacturers don’t. Pay attention to the details of how this will work right to the point of getting the debris in the garbage or scrap bin.
How good is the forklift magnet at hanging on to the debris that it picks up?
You are not going to be cleaning your magnet off constantly, so it’s important that when your magnet does pick up a nail or screw that the magnet secures the debris so that it won’t fall off if the magnet is suddenly shaken because of a bump or if the bottom of the magnet hits the ground and the debris is wiped backward on the magnet. The last thing you want is for the debris to fall off again. Make sure your magnet has some feature like our “Wrap Around Feature”, it not only makes sure debris doesn’t get wiped off the bottom of the magnet, it makes the debris holding capacity higher and you’ll find in practice that most of your debris ends up on the side of your magnet not the bottom of it. And that’s a good indication to you why we have this feature.
These are the maximum lifting heights of Forklift Magnets.

Do you need a forklift magnetic sweeper?
There are over two billion pallets in the USA alone. Broken pallets lose the nails that hold them together and leave behind nails and wrapper staples that cause flat tires but can easily be cleaned up with a forklift fitted with a forklift magnet.
Forklifts also move things around, and in the process of moving things around, pieces of metal fall off trucks, pallets and the material being moved.
Forklifts are mobile in the same area and therefore capable of sweeping up the debris while carrying out normal operations at no additional labor cost
Forklift magnets pay for themselves quickly by preventing flat tires and downtime of equipment, and repair costs.
