Defiant Magnetic Sweeper
Mounts Quickly to Any Flat Steel Surface!

519-582-1386
The Defiant Magnet Mounted Forklift Rare Earth Magnetic Sweeper attaches to the bottom of any forklift using 550 paracord and four Quadpod magnets with four rare earth pucks and 52lbs of holding force each. This setup allows for super-fast installation and easy height adjustment by pulling on paracord that gets locked by a cinch cleat.
The permanently charged rare earth magnets inside the Defiant’s heavy duty aluminum housing provide more holding power than a ceramic magnet so it can collect more debris before it needs to be cleaned . It will also pick up a 2.5” Inch 8 penny nail from 4” inches off the ground so at the recommended 1-2” inch sweeping height there is enough power to pull most debris types.
When it’s time to clear debris from the magnetic sweeper, the defiant comes with a durable PVC quick clean off sleeve that drops all collected debris into a pile by flipping the release and pulling on the handle.

The Defiant Magnet Mounted Forklift Rare Earth Magnetic Sweeper attaches using 550 paracord and four rare earth Quadpods that can provide up to 52lbs of holding force each (on 5/16” steel). This allows you to hang the roughly 25lb Defiant from your forklift with 208lbs of combined holding force between the four Quadpods.
Adjusting the sweeping height on the Defiant Magnet Mounted Forklift Rare Earth Magnetic Sweeper is accomplished by slipping the 550 paracord through the cinch cleat built into the Quadpods. The cleat allows paracord to slip through one way but not the other, this makes it simple to raise or lower the magnet by pulling on the cord or releasing the cinch cleat using the built in thumb ridge.
The Defiant Rare Earth Magnet Mounted Forklift Magnetic Sweeper hangs between the wheels of the forklift so it can’t be damaged from front end or rear end collisions. The 36” or 42” sweeping width allows the Defiant to fit under most indoor / outdoor forklifts without protruding out of the sides of the forklift, so it won’t get caught when maneuvering in tight spaces. This slim design allows the forklift to perform its regular tasks without being impeded by extra length on either end while continuously collecting metal debris from around your facility’s most travelled areas as the forklift works.
The Defiant doesn’t impede forklift performance even on very low electric forklifts, the Defiant is hung about 1.5” off the ground on this forklift and had no issues going over the steel ramp into the back of a trailer from the loading dock. The rare earth magnet in the main magnet housing can’t overpower the holding force of the four magnet Quadpods from 1.5” so it stays attached to the forklift rather than getting pulled off by the steel ramp.
Defiant’s powerful rare earth magnets can hold on to a huge amount of metal debris for the size of the magnet assembly. This allows you to collect debris using your forklift throughout the day. Using the Defiant sweeper in settings that continuously produce metal debris like automotive stamping facilities or tin roof forming facilities is the perfect way to keep the metal debris situation under control to prevent downtime and damage to personnel and equipment.
Check out the video below to see how the Defiant Magnet Mounted Forklift Rare Earth Magnetic Sweeper performed at a few facilities that have metal production processes that create debris daily.
As a magnet collects more debris it uses some of its magnetic power to hold onto the debris and has less available to pick up more. To keep the Defiant Hanging Forklift Magnet at top performance it needs to be cleaned off regularly. The PVC sleeve on the Defiant has built in handles on either side, one to brace the magnet and one to remove the sleeve, you will only need to use the handle to brace the magnet if there is enough debris collected to make removing the sleeve difficult to do with one hand which can happen quickly because of the powerful rare earth magnets. The sleeve also protects the magnet housing and is flexible enough to take hits without cracking, it has ribs in the middle and on the ends of the sleeve to ensure everything gets removed from the magnet and doesn’t flip over onto the housing. Check out the video below to see the clean off sleeve in action.
The included clean off sleeve has a couple features to improve its function, there are channels that allow debris to be retained on the sides of the fully packed magnet housing if it gets wiped off by touching the ground. There are also ribs built into the sleeve to clean off debris incrementally and prevent debris from piling up at the end cap and flipping over the sleeve back onto the magnet.
The Defiant Magnet Mounted Forklift Magnetic Sweeper can pick up a 2.5” inch 8 penny nail from 4” inches off the floor, so when the sweeper is working at the recommended 1-2” inch sweeping height there is plenty of pickup and holding power to collect most debris found where an indoor/outdoor forklift will be working. The Defiant is also equipped with a wrap around feature that allows debris to be held on the back side of the magnet housing, so it won’t get brushed off by the ground or other debris.
These sweeping widths were developed to work with most indoor / outdoor forklifts. When selecting your desired model, keep in mind that the products are longer than their effective sweeping width, see the picture below to see what the actual widths of the sweepers are. Check the total product width measurement against the width of the forklift you want to use, the entire assembly should be flush or slightly tucked under your forklift (1”-1.5”). Extending slightly outside the width of your forklift (1” – 1.5”)is OK as long as the magnet won’t get caught while operating under normal conditions at your facility.
The only difference between the Vigilant and Defiant is the magnet inside. The Vigilant utilizes a ceramic magnet and the Defiant utilizes a rare earth Neodymium magnet. What this means in real life is that the magnetic field strength (Gauss) on the Defiant will be stronger, enabling it to pick up some materials that the Vigilant won’t, the stronger field strength means it will hold onto the material with greater force.
Do you need the stronger magnetic field strength of the Defiant? NO, not if you’re just picking up ordinary screws and nails, etc. But if you are in an environment where your debris has a low ferrous content, then YES, you probably do need the Defiant because the Vigilant may not pick up your debris at all.
As an example of this situation, the Defiant was originally conceived of and made for a military vehicle manufacturer that had very high quality low ferrous content fasteners falling on the concrete production floor and those fasteners would then get ran over by solid wheels on very large production carts and the fasteners would get driven into the solid wheels and as the cart moved the fasteners were grinding the concrete floors to dust causing the floors to need replacing/refinishing frequently. Therefore, there was a high need to pick up the low ferrous content fasteners to avoid not only production cart wheel damage but concrete floor damage. But the only magnet capable of picking up the fasteners were rare earth Neodymium magnets.
You can see the difference in magnetic field strength below at various distances by looking at the Gauss charts for both the Vigilant and Defiant. At a one inch sweeping height the magnetic field strength of the Vigilant is 358 Gauss, but the Defiant magnetic field strength is 630 Gauss. A significant difference.
So, if you have regular debris, like normal nails and screws, the Vigilant is right for you. On the other hand, if you know you have low ferrous content debris you need to pick up, the Defiant is the better choice. Remember, we’re always happy to have you send us a sample of your debris, and we’ll test it here to make sure it can be picked up!
