Quick Coupling Magnetic Sweeper for Skid Steers
No Hydraulic Connection Required
Just hook into the Meerkat and go without needing to attach hydraulic connections. The Meerkat is a powerful magnetic sweeper that attaches to any skid steer or track loader with a universal adapter plate. This sweeper has three pivoting C8 magnets that can pick up a 2.5” nail from 10” off the ground and easily release it using the gravity powered Swing-Out Clean-Off system.
The three magnet assemblies are each 6.8” W x 5.25” H x 20.75” L and pivot on UHMW bushings for a smooth action on clean-off that functions like emptying a normal bucket; using gravity to separate the magnets from the stainless debris pan which releases collected metal.
The Meerkat comes standard with attachment points to accommodate our optional Debris Digging Rake accessory which helps operators dig up embedded debris from hard packed surfaces while it smooths / grooms the area you’re working in and helps you see where you’ve swept already.

Adaptable Magnetic Sweeping for Front End Loaders and Skid Steers
The Sokoke magnetic sweeper is a bigger and stronger version of the existing Meerkat magnetic sweeper, The Sokoke is meant for tougher jobs and heavier equipment while also a viable option for skid steers. The bracket assemblies have pre-drilled bolt holes to accept one of five brackets available from Bluestreak Equipment. Allowing you to use the Sokoke on many popular front-end loader models or skid steers, depending on which bracket is purchased with the Sokoke.
This versatile magnetic sweeper has three 29”-inch x 9”-inch x 6.25”-inch magnet assemblies that pivot on UHMW bushings which allows the metal debris stuck on the stainless-steel debris pan to be separated from the magnetic field by swinging the magnets away from the debris pan using gravity. This clean-off system allows the operator to raise the Sokoke over a scrap bin and empty the debris off by tipping it forward just like emptying a bucket. No one needs to manually handle the metal debris, which increases safety and efficiency.
The Sokoke also has the capability to accept the Debris Digging Rake accessory, this allows an operator to dig up debris that may be embedded under the surface after being runover by heavy machinery so it can be collected. The rakes also allow an operator to have a clear visual indicator of where they have swept while grooming the land, creating a more uniform surface.

Self Levelling Suspension & Onboard Debris Bins
Maximize Safety and Speed with the new industry standard for heavy truck magnetic sweeping
The Baffin magnetic sweeper is designed to be the premier front mounted heavy commercial truck magnet on the market. It’s suspension system keeps the magnet planted at the right height through hard turns and over bumps to eliminate the need for constant height adjustment. The Baffin also has a clean-off system that allows drivers to empty the magnet quickly and safely from the truck cab without ever having to get out of the truck or handle debris.
With a maximum pickup height of 10.75”, the Baffin is well suited to collect any metal debris up to 25 km/h (~15 mph) at the recommended sweeping height of 2” inches.
And the two on-board removable 1.65 cubic foot debris bins allow for the 95” inch wide magnet to be cleaned off multiple times before the bins need to be emptied. This increases efficiency by letting the magnet spend more time sweeping. And by easily keeping the magnet clear of debris there is more power available to collect debris which further increases efficiency.
Sweeping height adjustment (recommended 2”-5” inches) is done using stroke control blocks on the hydraulic cylinders. Moving from sweeping height to the travelling height of 10.5” inches just requires a cycle of the hydraulics (this position can be maintained by inserting all the supplied stroke control blocks or you may rely on the hydraulic system to keep the magnet suspended).

Quick Tips
What do the staff of Bluestreak have to say about Front Mount magnets?
One of the key features of front mount magnetic sweepers are the casters. Because you can’t see whether the front of the magnet is hitting the ground or not you need to rely on the casters doing their job. The casters must keep the magnet off the ground as you drive up and over bumps and uneven ground whether you’re on gravel, dirt, grass or pavement. To do this effectively, the casters must be wide enough that they won’t sink into dirt, mud, or sand under the weight of the magnet. The wheels also need to be as close as possible to the magnet housing so that the magnet distance from the ground remains relatively stable and so that the front of the magnet lifts up and over bumps rather than ramming into them. Make sure the casters on our products look like they will work on your terrain and watch the videos.

What do the staff of Bluestreak have to say about Front Mount magnets?
You obviously must consider a lot of things when choosing a front mount magnet, cost is one, but since the magnet will be out front, you really need to consider what will maintain the sweeping height and on what terrain that sweeping height will have to be maintained. It’s going to be hard to see the sweeping height of the magnet when operating it, so something, usually wheels have to maintain the set sweeping height. And if the terrain is sand or dirt, the wheels must be big enough not to sink in to the sand or dirt in order to maintain that sweeping height. Trying to maintain a sweeping height by adjusting controls remotely when you can’t see what the actual sweeping height is, is impossible.

What you give up when you buy a Front Mount Magnet
3 Cons to buying a Front Mount
Everything has pros and cons, so let’s discuss the “cons” of a front mount magnet. That is what you give up when you buy one.
- Con 1
- Con 2
- Con 3
Well, the first thing you give up is more money. Generally front mount magnets are a bit more expensive than other magnets of the same strength. This is because it generally costs a bit more to mount them to a vehicle.
The second thing you give up is some magnet strength. It’s simply not possible to mount as big of a mass (kg) magnet on the front of a vehicle as it is to put it on a trailer and tow it. Weight is a concern with front mount magnets. That weight affects the size of magnet that is possible for front mount magnet designs. It’s possible to keep magnet strength high, and weight lower, by substituting ceramic magnets with rare earth magnets to a degree, but this has the other effect of increasing cost, and giving up more money.
The third thing you give up is ease of mounting and de-mounting. Let’s face it, it’s simply easier to hook up a trailer than it is to mount and de-mount a front mount sweeper.
There you have it. Those are the three “CONS” of buying a front mount magnet. It is these three disadvantages that we have focused on addressing when designing our front mount magnets.

Why buy a Front Mount Magnet.
The "Pros" to buying a front mount
The obvious reason to buy a front mount magnet is so that you don’t have to run over the debris before you pick it up with the magnet. In many cases where the debris is heavy and of the type that will definitely cause flat tires almost immediately, a front mount magnet becomes the only real choice.
There are also other applications where the debris will cause a flat tire given some sweeping time, and in these circumstances, it also becomes a very strong reason to consider a front mount magnet. In fact, if we could, it would always be advisable to put the magnet ahead of us or the vehicle when sweeping for metal debris. If we could, why not?
Another reason for buying a front mount magnet is that they are sort of like hanging magnets to some degree. That is, they can stay mounted, and be used more, while performing other duties. This is rarely the case with a tow behind magnet.
So the question is why not? That is, why in many cases do we not buy and use front mount magnets? Well, to be fully informed, read the next section, on what you give up when you buy a front mount.

Consider how your vehicle handles
How your vehicle handles with the front mount magnet on the vehicle is another factor worth investigating. Look at both how the vehicle handles when sweeping with the magnet, and how the vehicle handles when the magnet is lifted and not sweeping.
The better the vehicle handles in both of these circumstances, the more likely you are to leave it permanently mounted, which in turn indicates the amount you will likely use the magnet.
