Passive Friction Sweepers for cleaning debris behind tow vehicles. Tow Behind Friction Sweepers are best for cleaning any debris that won’t damage a vehicle if run over, this means anything that can fit under a bumper. Some friction sweepers are built to collect smaller FOD debris from airfields and others are made to collect larger pieces that may be on the side of the road. Each FOD friction sweeper is built to collect a specific range of debris sizes, something that is built to pick up a lost hubcap or blown tire belt on the highway shoulder usually won’t be as adept at retrieving small items like dropped zip ties or pea gravel. Be sure to investigate the type of debris sweeper you need, the best sweeper for the shoulder of a highway may not be as useful as a runway FOD sweeper.
Built to work in tandem with the Seeker Airmag Magnetic FOD Sweeper to keep any military or commercial airport clear of FOD. The Seeker Airdrag is a Friction FOD Sweeper, meaning it will get everything nonmetallic on an airfield. Since the Seeker FOD Control System consists of a magnetic and nonmagnetic sweeper towed together the entire system works more efficiently. The tandem trailer FOD system allows for two jobs to be done simultaneously, creating an increase in efficiency in terms of time spent sweeping. Because the magnet is towed in front of the Seeker Airdrag Friction FOD Sweeper it prevents any metallic debris from entering the debris pods, leaving more space for nonferrous FOD collection. This allows operators to spend less time emptying collected FOD and more time collecting FOD.
The Seeker Passive FOD Sweeper 180 has thirteen individual FOD collection pods which give a 17’ foot sweeping width. Once deployed these pods conform to the surface they are on and ride on 5” inch high speed wheels, so the only wear parts on the pods are the brushes, debris ramp tips and wheels. This modularity allows for easy replacement of wear parts so the Seeker Airdrag FOD Sweeper can be used for years with an unlimited service life if wear parts are replaced. The Seeker Airdrag can also be ordered as a 60” inch model for use behind a single Airmag or for in tight spaces.
When emptying the Seeker Airdrag’s debris pods operators have options. A vacuum can be used to remove all the debris retained under the magnetically secured debris tarp. The pods can also be dumped out into an included debris trough to be transferred into an onboard storage bin. This system secures debris to reduce the risk of contaminating an area with FOD already collected. Each pod weighs roughly 20lbs so it is much easier to move around and empty, compared to debris mat style friction sweepers. The Seeker Airdrag FOD Sweeper is available in army green, sand, and traffic orange colourways.
Available in 2 sizes: Seeker Airdrag 60″, Airdrag 180″

Convenient Cleanout Options
When looking for a Sweeper to pick up general debris, ensure that the sweeper has features to make debris that has been picked up, easy to remove and dispose of. This can be an automated system, or onboard debris collection and storage.
Robust Construction & Serviceable Parts
Built to withstand tough conditions, the heavy-duty frame and high-quality components ensure that these sweepers continue to perform, even in the most challenging environments. Friction sweepers that have serviceable parts ensure that your investment into high performance cleaning continues performing for years
Debris Retainment
Picking up debris only to lose it when turning or braking completely negates the effect of the initial sweeping. When selecting a Friction FOD sweeper be sure that the sweeper is designed to hang onto collected debris effectively so the work you do to keep an area clean isn’t wasted.
Investing in a high-quality Friction FOD Sweeper is not only an investment in safety but also in efficiency. These machines are specifically designed to prevent downtime caused by machinery damage, improve the working environment, and ensure that your operations run smoothly and without interruption. The ability to clean large surfaces with minimal effort makes them invaluable tools for increasing productivity while maintaining a safe, debris-free environment.
