Bluestreak Equipment Seeker Complete FOD Management System for Airports

Friction Sweepers for Airports collect any FOD from around airports to prevent damage to equipment and personnel on the airfield. The Seeker Airdrag is built to be more convenient, effective, and durable airfield FOD sweeper compared to any other friction sweeper on the market. The Seeker Airdrag is one half of the Seeker Complete FOD Management System. The Airdrag friction sweeper for airports links behind the Seeker Airmag magnetic sweeper to supplement the cleaning capability of the magnetic sweeper. Because an operator can tow the Airmag and Airdrag at the same time, complete cleaning is accomplished twice as fast. The magnetic sweeper ahead of the friction sweeper increases the efficiency by ensuring that metal debris doesn’t make it to one of the 13 debris collection pods along the 209” inch sweeping width and take up space that could be filled with nonferrous debris. The Seeker Airdrag has the same towing profile as the Airmag even with its wider sweeping width, so it is easy to tow the entire system.

Premium Airfield FOD Sweeping Solution

Built to work in tandem with the Seeker Airmag Magnetic FOD Sweeper to keep any military or commercial airport clear of FOD. The Seeker Airdrag is a Friction FOD Sweeper, meaning it will get everything nonmetallic on an airfield. Since the Seeker FOD Control System consists of a magnetic and nonmagnetic sweeper towed together the entire system works more efficiently. The tandem trailer FOD system allows for two jobs to be done simultaneously, creating an increase in efficiency in terms of time spent sweeping. Because the magnet is towed in front of the Seeker Airdrag Friction FOD Sweeper it prevents any metallic debris from entering the debris pods, leaving more space for nonferrous FOD collection. This allows operators to spend less time emptying collected FOD and more time collecting FOD.

The Seeker Passive FOD Sweeper 180 has thirteen individual FOD collection pods which give a 17’ foot sweeping width. Once deployed these pods conform to the surface they are on and ride on 5” inch high speed wheels, so the only wear parts on the pods are the brushes, debris ramp tips and wheels. This modularity allows for easy replacement of wear parts so the Seeker Airdrag FOD Sweeper can be used for years with an unlimited service life if wear parts are replaced. The Seeker Airdrag can also be ordered as a 60” inch model for use behind a single Airmag or for in tight spaces.

When emptying the Seeker Airdrag’s debris pods operators have options. A vacuum can be used to remove all the debris retained under the magnetically secured debris tarp. The pods can also be dumped out into an included debris trough to be transferred into an onboard storage bin. This system secures debris to reduce the risk of contaminating an area with FOD already collected. Each pod weighs roughly 20lbs so it is much easier to move around and empty, compared to debris mat style friction sweepers. The Seeker Airdrag FOD Sweeper is available in army green, sand, and traffic orange colourways.

All nails made of ferrous metal, which are metals containing iron or steel, can be attracted by magnets, while non-ferrous metals, like aluminum, can’t be picked up by magnets. Since most roofing nails are made of steel, magnets can be used to clean-up of roofing and construction sites.

Debris retention is a key aspect of an effective friction sweeper, it is useless to spend time collecting FOD from an airfield if it is just going to be lost when taking a turn. Bluestreak FOD Friction Sweepers are specifically designed to keep collected debris inside the sweeper while accelerating, braking, or turning. This prevents areas from being re-contaminated with FOD that was already picked up.

When it’s time to empty debris from the sweeper an operator wants something that isn’t cumbersome to clean out. Ensure that the Airfield FOD sweeper you select has provisions to clean collected debris out of it in a convenient manner.

Pairing a friction FOD sweeper with a magnetic FOD sweeper for airports always results in a better cleaning job than either could do one their own. Utilizing a magnet in front of a friction sweeper allows for more room in the friction sweeper’s collection zones, as all of the metallic / ferrous debris will get caught by the magnet before it gets to the friction FOD sweeper.
